Anodising is an energy hungry business and our electricity costs form a tremendous amount of our overheads explains Mick Jones Director of Alpha Anodizing & Finishing ‘which is why when Liam Conway of Control Energy Costs Ltd made contact and explained how they help we thought it was worthwhile having a conversation’.

Alpha Anodizing & Polishing Ltd also known as Alpha Finishing, operate an anodising facility in Yoxall, near Lichfield which can process extrusion lengths and pressed panels up to 6.5m in length, in colours such as natural silver, black and various bronzes, in thicknesses from 5-25 microns. They also have their own long length polishing machine and double headed cutting facility, thereby offering a one-stop shop for aluminium anodising and fabrication.

Starting in 2009, Alpha has invested substantially in its plant and equipment over the past few years, and as turnover has grown, so has its usage of electricity, which necessitated the purchase of its own on-site sub-station in 2015. Mick Jones commented, ‘it has been imperative that as such a heavy user of electricity, we get a true handle on our current and future energy costs to meet the growing needs of the business’.

‘Every year we have energy companies and independent brokers constantly bombarding us with how they can save us money. Working with CEC has been a completely different experience for us. We were amazed at how they immediately identified existing issues and opportunities in our electricity bills to save money that have and will continue to add value to our bottom line and assist us with our growth plans.’

Mick Jones continued ‘We’re beyond delighted with the work of Control Energy Costs: they get paid on results, the refunds and savings are significant and they pay for our membership many times over! I look forward to working with them going forward when our supply contracts are up for renewal’.

Commercial Manager Spencer Melia commented ‘Working with CEC came about as a result of our membership of Made in the Midlands. We’re keen to get as much out of Made in The Midlands as possible, and the benefits for Alpha have been immediate. For us it’s about connecting with people we can do business with, both in terms of new customers for us but also working with service providers who have manufacturing experience. We should have done it years ago!’.

Liam Conway summarised by saying ‘Alpha have been a great client for us, they gave us the opportunity to prove our value and I’m delighted we’ve been able to achieve so much for them. The account is managed by my colleague Derry Brophy, he has executed the refunds and savings and acts as the point of contact for Alpha on an on-going basis’
